Six Privacy Principles and Practices.

Because your privacy is important to us, DEVJOBS adheres to the following seven principles and practices:

1 - We collect minimal information only

DEVJOBS explicitly asks when it needs information that personally identifies you. For regular members or job-seekers, we ask for your name and email address only, as a minimum. Members are not required to us real names. But of course, we need a true and valid email address. As a normal practice, we do not collect information on age, occupation, nationality, gender, etc. but we may hold some surveys in the future to determine the profile of our members. For customers, we only ask for addresses [phone, fax, email addresses] and contact persons which we used only for billing purposes.

2 - We do not divulge your info to anyone

DEVJOBS protects your privacy very strictly. We do not divulge to anyone the email addresses or any information about members and customers. We do not sell, share, rent or lease our database with any other third party.

Data provided on voluntary surveys are strictly confidential. Such data are used only for demographic statistics. DEVJOBS keeps all of your Personal Information private and does not share it with any third party. DEVJOBS will not disclose your Personal Information unless acting under a good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (1) conform to legal requirements or comply with legal process; (2) protect and defend the rights or property of DEVJOBS; (3) enforce the DEVJOBS Terms of Service; or (4) act to protect the interests of its members or others.

For customers, we published a list of our customers in this website, but only the names of the organizations are given. No other info is provided to external viewers.

Due to the nature of the internet, the security of messages you send to DEVJOBS cannot be guaranteed, and you should bear this in mind when posting confidential information to us. This is true even when we maintain carefully our computer systems from other people, hackers or external parties.

3 - We keep no tabs on the application process

DEVJOBS protects your privacy further by not being directly involved in the job application and hiring process. We ask all our members to apply directly with the employers. We do not require members to course their applications with us, nor do we ask that we be copied correspondence with employers. Members deal directly with the employers, who keep your application strictly confidential.

4 - We will not send you any spam mail

Membership in DEVJOBS must be strictly voluntary. No other person may subscribe or add a person's email address to our mailing list or database list without that person's consent.

DEVJOBS will not send you any unsolicited information, including email, except as mentioned below.

New users may (or will) receive a DEVJOBS welcome letters explaining the features provided by the service. Under exigent circumstances, DEVJOBS may be required to send you information about the service or your account, but DEVJOBS will not send you unsolicited email regarding any commercial offers or advertisements at any time. However, to partly cover our costs, our website will have some small commercial advertisements in some pages. Our emails will also have a portion (usually on top most - with the label - Advertisement) containing commercial ads, from our partners and sponsors. These help to cover our operating costs.

5 - We delete all spam mail

These days, there are hundreds of junk mail or spam that flies around. A survey by Internet companies shows that 85% of all emails today are junk mail. We receive hundreds of them every day. To protect your privacy, we have installed mechanisms to filter out all spam and unsolicited messages from all our issues and archives. We have a full time editorial staff that take care of this important responsibility.

DEVJOBS does not allow spam, junk mail, chain letters or other unsolicited bulk email, commercial or otherwise, on any DEVOBS facility. We take the following measures to prevent this abuse of our service. DEVJOBS maintain these Anti-spam Measures

  • Anyone who joins DEVJOBS mailing list must provide a valid email address for their subscription. We shall soon install software to scan our database regularly to check if there are emails which are identified with known spammers. if so those email addresses are automatically deleted.

  • We check for all spam mails and viruses, through several layers of virus scans and firwalls. DEVJOBS will continue to use new and better technology to block much of the junk email (spam) which is posted to or sent to us.

We realize, however, that despite our best efforts and continuing allocation of resources, some abuse of the DEVJOBS service will occur.

Harvesting Addresses. No one shall use the DEVJOBS service to bulk harvest, or otherwise collect, information about others, including email addresses, without their consent. DEVJOBS shall implement new technology to limit access by mass mailers which collect email addresses.

6 - We make unsubscribing simple and easy

When you leave DEVJOBS members database, your email address will be removed from our database. However, any message you have posted to our chat, feedback, webpage, discussion list or thsoe kept in the archives will remain in the DEVJOBS archives.

We have also installed online unsubscribe facility to make it easier for memebrs to leave the mailing list. Members wanting to leave may click here if they want to unsubscribe.

Give us your feedback! Thanks to: JokesOnTheWeb.com and www.MarkStivers.com for these funny cartoons. See their websites for more fun.

“Online job sites sometines tend to overwhelm people. The key for most people to realize is that you can’t conduct your job search entirely from your computer. You have to get in front of prospective bosses to get an offer.”

From: John Challenger, chief executive officer of Challenger, Gray & Christmas, a firm that helps place people in jobs and does business consulting.
